International Day of Yoga 2024 at Nagoya June 22

Press Release

June 22nd, 2024, Nagoya City, Aichi Prefecture: A momentous milestone was reached as the 10th International Day of Yoga (IDY) event culminated at Nagoya International Center on June 22nd, 2024.

Overview

This event is the series' final event that started from Toyota City on June 2nd, 2024.

The full-day event commenced at 11:00 AM with the esteemed presence of our guests of honor, Mr. Choudhury Rudra Charan Mohanty, Environment Programme Coordinator, UNCRD-DSDG/UN DESA, and Mr. Tomio Isogai, Advisor in Indo-Japanese Relations, who graced us with their insightful remarks.

Honorable guests gave a speech about the importance of yoga in daily life and how it can be taught as part of the daily routine to keep everyone healthy and stable.

Opening of the Event

The event was enriched with a myriad of activities. It began with a mesmerizing Bharatnatyam performance by Ms. Sachie Tatsumi, followed by a practice session of Common Yoga Protocol led by Nibedita Sensei. Ashutosh sensei then conducted a special pranayama yoga session, adding a unique touch to the event.

Ms. Subha Kokubo Chakraborty gave an excellent workshop on traditional dance, involving all the participants dancing together. She also explained and demonstrated different bhav (facial expressions) used in the traditional dance of Bharatnatyam, concluding the first half of the program.

Pranayama & Dinacharya Sessions

After lunch, Nibedita sensei gave a presentation on Dinacharya (daily routine), emphasizing the cleanliness of body and mind. Ashutosh Sensei and Yumi san presented Pranayama, explaining the details of Pranayama, especially the "Silver Triangle" consisting of Kapalbhati, Anulom vilom, and Bhramri.

The day was full of knowledgeable content with a practical approach and theoretical knowledge.

Our "routine card" was distributed to participants, and a new 1-year yoga challenge was also introduced to the attendees. Starting from July 1st, 2024, to May 31st, 2024, the yogi who practices the maximum number of days of yoga and a maximum number of yoga classes will be awarded in next year's International Day of Yoga 2025.
