India Fair organized at BioTOPIA MeBYO Valley

H.E. Sanjay Kumar Verma, Ambassador of India to Japan; and Smt. Gunjan Verma, spouse of Ambassador

Kanagawa, Japan May 2, 2021 - 5 Days, 15 Yoga Sessions! Plus Morning online yoga session for 3 days direct from Me-byo Valley Biotopia.


From 28th April to 2nd May 2021, as "India Fair" was organized at BioTOPIA MeBYO Valley by Brooks Holdings, Oi Town & Kanagawa Prefecture Japan with "Best Wishes" from Embassy of India Tokyo. #IndiaAt75






Patanjali Japan Foundation has participated to promote authentic yoga in Japan by demonstrating 15 yoga sessions in 5 days and showcase the yoga activities in Japan. Yoga sessions were conducted by Chief Sewa Officer, Ashutosh Singh. Live tabla music was provided by Nakada san giving wonderful synergy of traditional Indian music and yoga.


As part of #IndiaAt75, Embassy of India Tokyo participated in the "India Fair" and setup a exhibition stall showcasing Indian Culture & Diversity through Indian Literature (in Japanese language), Indian Textiles (#Khadi, #Sarees), Indian Handicrafts, Indian #Organic Herbal Tea, #Ayurveda Products, India Tourism, #Buddhism, Movies, Wellness Tourism, etc. There were Yoga & Saree Draping sessions too for the visitors. There were other Indian stalls showcasing #Yoga, Indian Musical instrument "#Tabla" and its demonstration, Indian #Food, etc.


On 2 May 2021, Ambassador Sanjay Kumar Verma delivered remarks at welcoming ceremony of "India Fair" at BioTOPIA MeBYO Valley. In his remarks, Ambassador highlighted the importance of such events which not only give an opportunity to Japanese friends to enjoy and understand the Indian diversity but also encourage them to experience it. He also highlighted the role of all stakeholders including leaders of states in India and prefectures in Japan in the evolving "#IndiaJapan Special Strategic and Global Partnership" by sister-city arrangements including with Kanagawa Prefecture. He mentioned Yokohama and Mumbai Sister-city relationship which is one of the oldest i.e. more than 55 years old and 2018 India’s Ministry of AYUSH and Kanagawa Prefecture Memorandum of Cooperation on Health and Wellness. He also informed about India's 75 years of independence by arranging 75 week-long Programme titled #BharatKaAmrutMahotsav #Indiaat75 as well as celebration of Year 2022 as 70 years of #IndiaJapan Diplomatic Relations.


During interaction with local TV Ambassador mentioned about the similarities between concept of "#Mebyo" and "#Ayurveda" where both mentions ways and means to prevent a disease.

The ceremony was also graced by Mayor of Oi town Mr. Shinichi ODA, Chief, Regional Center for West Kanagawa Prefecture Mr. Yasushi FUJISAWA, President Brooks Corp and CEO BioTOPIA Ms Ogawa Hiroko. All dignitaries highlighted the ever-growing #IndiaJapan relations & ever increasing role of India in all spheres of global affairs. They expressed their happiness to collaborate with Embassy of India Tokyo to further promote concept of "Mebyo" and "Yoga & Ayurveda" to promote health and wellness.


The ceremony had demonstration of Indian Traditional Sport “#Mallakhamb” by Mallakhamb World Champion & Founder "NPO Japan Mallakhamb Federation (http://mallakhamb.info/gaiyou/)" Ms. Keiko Takemoto & her students, lecture sessions on "#Yoga for Stress Management" & "Basics of #Ayurveda" by TIC Vivekananda Cultural Centre, Embassy of India Dr Reeta Sharma, classical dance performance by #Kathak and Bollywood Dance School Funabori Tokyo, #Tabla & #Harmonium music by "hEat Beat" Team led by Tabla Player Mr Kazuto Sashihara, bollywood dance presentation by troupe of "India Bollywood Dance School Tokyo". There was a Quiz Marche on India too. Japanese friends enjoyed & appreciated the "#IndiaFair".

All norms of COVID 19 preventive measures were followed. The event was organized with COVID19 preventive measures.
