On July 21st, 2024, Patanjali Japan Foundation (PJF) held a remembrance event for Dhanashree Date Sensei, a beloved member of the PJF community who passed away earlier in May. The event took place at the VCC hall above ISKCON Temple in Funabori, Tokyo.
A Gathering of Loved Ones
The ceremony was a simple 1-hour gathering joined by colleagues, friends and former students of Dhanashree sensei. Attendees shared their fond memories, creating a space filled with warmth and remembrance. Flowers and Tulsi plants were generously gifted, further beautifying the space dedicated to Dhanashree sensei.
Words of Comfort and Shared Prayers
Mr. Sridaam Gopal Das, member of ISKCON Japan, offered a brief speech sharing his perspective on the after-life, and the significance of chanting mantras in healing, re-energizing and rejuvenating the mind and soul. This proceeded with a 15-minute Hare Krishna mantra chanting session joined by all attendees. The chanting served to keep Dhanashree sensei in their hearts and extend prayers for her family and close friends.
Carrying Forward Dhanashree Sensei's Legacy
After the chanting session, Varada sensei expressed her heartfelt thoughts, encouraging everyone to continue carrying Dhanashree Sensei's positive energy and outlook in life.
A Shared Space of Grief and Gratitude
Albeit the mutual grief and sorrow, the room was also filled with peaceful resonance. Many attendees stayed for the rest of the morning to honour and share their memories of Dhanashree sensei.
Patanjali Japan Foundation expresses its deepest gratitude to all those who joined the event, and to those who were unable to attend but sent in their wishes and prayers.
