IDY 2020-Yoga Week Program for International Day of Yoga - Summary


We have successfully completed the Yoga week program for International Day of Yoga (IDY) 2020 - ONLINE.

Thanks for your participation in large numbers.


We hope this regular practice of yoga is helping all of you to improve your health both physically and mentally.


Many of you are already joining us in daily morning online yoga sessions conducted regularly.


Detailed Summary of IDY 2020

Below is the detailed summary of our 1 long week Yoga program for IDY 2020.

Day 0: June 14 (Sunday) 10:00-11:00

Patanjali Japan Foundation in collaboration with the Embassy of India,Japan organized a curtain raiser on 14th June 2020 for celebrating the International Day of Yoga which will be held on 21st June 2020. The event started with the Indian Prime Minister Mr.Narendra Modiji`s speech followed by the speech of the Indian Ambassador to Japan Mr.Sanjay Kumar Verma and by various guests.。 Patanjali Japan Foundation’s members spoke about the mission and vision of Yoga and about a week long International Yoga Day sessions which will start from 15th June 2020. We extend our gratitude to the Official promotion partner Irie for promoting Patanjali JapanFoundation. https://item.rakuten.co.jp/irie-irie/c/0000000356/ One of the guest speakers Ms.Ayako Sasaki of a NPO Organization for children called STORIA spoke about how the children enjoyed doing their first yoga class with Mr. Ashutosh Singh and enjoyed listening to the information about Indian culture and hindi language.This was their first time getting to know a new culture. Two guest speakers from Rakuten Mr. Yoshito Naganuma(Executive officer of Rakuten Edy) and Ms. Yumi Minematsu (Company nurse Rakuten Inc.) shared their experiences of daily doing online morning yoga while working from home. According to them, even a beginner can continue yoga at his/her own pace and while doing yoga there is a sense of relaxation. After doing yoga in the morning, it gives a feeling of fresh start and inspiration of working from home the whole day there is no feeling of irritation but a composed feeling. There was a yoga demonstration which included a few upper body movements and pranayama followed by chanting the mantras. Yoga is not only limited to physical health but it also includes mental health and spirituality. Amid the Coronavirus pandemic yoga can help boost immunity and improve the overall health. P.S. Conducted Day #1 IDY, yoga session for Busy people (7:00-8:00). Number of attendees minimum: 40 This session was focused on busy people who do not get time to focus on their physical and mental health. Specially designed for busy people. Started with sukshma vyayam of 15 minutes. Followed by some special asanas which can be done while sitting on yoga mats, chairs or lying on bed. Day 2: June 16 (Tuesday) 7:00-8:00

Conducted Day #2 IDY, yoga session for spasticity (muscle stiffness) 7:00-8:00 by zoom. This was a paid session. Number of attendees minimum: 20 This session was focused for spasticity (muscle stiffness) for people suffering from muscle stiffness. This session was conducted by Suhani Shah sensei. Started with sukshma vyayam and practiced asanas focused on releasing muscle stiffness. At last anulom vilom pranayam and pratyahar (yoni mudra) was introduced. Day 3: June 17 (Wednesday) 7:00-8:00

Conducted Day #3 IDY2020, yoga session for boosting immunity 7:00-8:00 by zoom Number of attendees minimum: 40 This session was focused on boosting the immune system. This session was conducted by Ap Sara sensei. Started with Om chanting, sukshma vyayam and practiced asanas which helps in improving the immune system. This session when conducted on a daily basis gives a very good impact on physical and mental health. Conducted Day #4 IDY2020, yoga session for stress and depression 7:00-8:00 by zoom Number of attendees (max): 20 This session was focused on stress and depression. This session was conducted by Ap Sara sensei. It Started with Om chanting, sukshma vyayam and multiple cycles of suryanamaskar. Practiced asanas which helps in reducing stress and helps in making our mind stable. This session when conducted on a daily basis gives a very good impact on physical and mental health. Conducted Day #5 IDY2020, yoga session for woman 7:00-8:00 by zoom Number of attendees: 35 This session was focused on women This session was conducted by Suhani sensei. Started with sukshma vyayam followed by different asanas which help in women's health. Explained the meaning of OM sound and practiced multiple times. This session when conducted on a daily basis gives a very good impact on physical and mental health. Conducted Day #6 IDY2020, yoga session for kids 9:00-10:00 by zoom Number of attendees (Min): 30 This session was focused for kids broadcasted from Bharat by Rajiv Bhardwaj ji Started with sukshma vyayam followed by different types of asanas and pranayamas for kids overall health, which helps in focusing their mind. Had some fun activities also This session when conducted on a daily basis gives a very good impact on physical and mental health. Day 7: June 21 (Sunday) 10:15-11:15 This is the day of yoga week program for International Day of Yoga 2020 activity. Total number of participants was 40 in Zoom for both sessions today. We have also done live streaming on Facebook where we got more than 250 views.
